Making “Grade” with Maple Sports Floors

Posted February 4, 2020 by Janelle Pederson

Facility owners frequently ask the question: “What grade of maple should I put in our facility?”  There really isn’t a right or wrong answer to this commonly asked question.  Grades are simply a way of discerning between different visual characteristics of maple flooring.

To illustrate the point, compare maple grades to the craft beer at your favorite local micro-brewery:

  • First Grade is a nice blonde lager
  • Second and Better is more of an IPA or pale ale
  • Third Grade is a hearty stout

Bottom line is you really cannot go wrong with your decision – whether it’s grades of maple or craft beer choices.  It’s all about personal preferences.  All the choices will serve you well.
